POSITION OBJECTIVEWATD-FM: “The South Shore’s Radio Station” is looking for an additional news reporter to add to our award-winning staff. Must have some on-air experience as well as a strong background in social media and digital content. Candidate must also possess strong writing skills, audio editing skills, and a real interest in local news. Video editing skills (Adobe Premiere) a plus. Knowledge of Adobe Audition or Cool Edit a plus. Overall, a go with the flow attitude and abundant curiosity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cover local meetings, court cases, breaking news, and community events.
  • Assist/help with planning/executing political forums.
  • Keep website updated by working with the news team.
  • Cross-train to be a fill-in anchor for weekday newscasts or occasionally weekend newscasts.
  • Someone who is flexible with their schedule, personable, and who understands the importance of local news.
  • Will have the opportunity to develop skills in producing feature stories and some investigative reporting.
  • Maintains confidentiality by not discussing internal WATD matters, company strategies, and any other information or sensitive information with clients, competitors, listeners, and other media.
  • Maintains assigned equipment.
  • Works in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Works effectively in a team environment and maintains a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients.
  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Able to manage stress effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
